Creatively Hamish

My Life as an artist
I’ve been creating since the age of 18, starting out painting Christmas windows around my hometown of Nelson, New Zealand, before quickly expanding into large-scale murals and exhibition pieces. By the time I was 23, I had painted over 5,000 square metres of murals and had become known for my fun, expressive, and colourful work. Over the years, my practice has evolved into mixed media and sculpture, exploring the dialogue between culture, history, and the world we live in today. I’m passionate about using sustainable and recycled materials wherever possible and love creating art that tells a story and transforms spaces. Whether I’m building installation pieces, theming environments, or sketching on a scrap of paper, creativity is simply part of who I am.

High Water Mark
Designed and exhibited at The ArtScience Musuem; High Water Mark is a 3m long whale completely designed from reclaimed materials.
It is a reflection on the vulnerability of the symbiotic relationship that human progress has with the environment and ocean. The artwork is sculpted from a Sea Kayak that was dug up at Changi Beach. the features are marine, construction and commercial waste, shaped into a 'to scale' model of Singapore, resting on the back of a giant whale.
The piece is currently undergoing a much needed creative overhaul and repaint and will soon be on display at XCL World Academy
